About the Author
Michael A. Barsamian is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Stout with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education and advanced graduate credits. He entered the field of Vocational Technical Education to prepare his students for their technical careers. Mr. Barsamian has taught board drafting, residential drafting, CAD drafting, and print reading for machine trades. In addition, he has provided consultation and customized training to machine shops and other related industries.
Richard Gizelbach is a former instructor of Machine Shop and Computer Numerical Control Programs at Gateway Colleges in Kenosha and Racine, Wisconsin. Mr. Gizelbach holds a Bachelor of Science and Master of Vocational Education degrees from the University of Wisconsin-Stout, along with a Specialist Certificate in Administrative Leadership from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. In addition, Mr. Gizelbach has worked as a machinist for Nordberg Mfg. in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He has developed and taught custom in-plant courses for Gateway and Milwaukee Technical College for several companies throughout southeastern Wisconsin. Mr. Gizelbach currently teaches courses and seminars on overhead and mobile cranes throughout the United States for Konecranes.

Mandatory purchase for the machinist course of program I'm taking ...

Mandatory purchase for the machinist course of program I'm taking at a Tech College. While taking the quizzes, we (class of 4 students and the instructor) all noticed wrong answers in the answer sheet provided to the instructor. Also, wish there was a way of getting the answer sheet so we can self review/check the chapters the instructors don't cover.

I would find another book

The book provides quizzes at the end of each chapter, yet the instructors book either has incorrect answers or the questions are so misleading that the key seems incorrect. This is unacceptable for a text book and embarrassing for the instructor using this book.. It doesn't take long for students to become frustrated with the text, which only hinders the learning process. We sometimes used an earlier 4th edition book to determine the correct answers to the 5th edition book. During the update from the 4th to the 5th edition, some of the exam questions were modified, with confusion as the result.
Even though the 4th edition book lacks the errors of the 5th edition, it is still very dry reading. As a student I felt that the text was somewhat convoluted and the chapters seemed a little rushed. I feel that 4th edition book does a adequate job of presenting print reading to students, but the 5th edition will have them pulling their hair out.
